Public understanding of the planetary boundaries. Experiences and challenges for communicators and educators.
The Planetary Boundaries concept is a communications and educational tool. It condenses and illustrates global environmental challenges and highlights the need for change. The concept has gained increasing attention and has been relied upon by political actors, civil society organizations, the private sector and media. Still, the concept has not widely impacted the public discourse. This workshop discusses how the planetary boundaries concept can be communicated and implemented in formal and informal educational settings. It aims to identify areas of action to further improve the concept’s reach.
